American Kidney Fund presents Kidney Disease in the African American Community

The American Kidney Fund and the Trinity Baptist Church Education Staff are pleased to announce an upcoming seminar on Kidney Disease in the African American Community. This seminar will be held at Trinity Church Educational Center, 2521 Richland Street, Columbia, SC 29204 on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 11 to 1 PM, including lunch. Our keynote speaker is Dr. Stewart Darby, an excellent physician, a leading expert in health issues for our community, and an exciting presenter.

The goals of this kidney disease seminar are to:

  1. Address the direct causes of kidney disease, age, and gender variables.

  2. Identify the stages of kidney disease and potential actions.

  3. Describe the impact that other health conditions have on kidney disease.

  4. Explorer efforts to prevent kidney disease and/or slow the progressive process.

  5. Recognize the early symptoms in yourself, your children, and other family members.

  6. Describe treatment options:

    • Varied forms of dialysis as treatment.

    • The transplantation process for the AF/AM community members.

  7. Provide supportive kidney disease resources for the AF/AM community.
